North Bay Haven's Preston Neufeld stood out as the lone local wrestler to advance to a state championship final, securing a silver medal. Neufeld's impressive performance earned him the title of Bay County boys' Wrestler of the Year, as voted by a panel of coaches and media members. Last season, Neufeld finished fifth at state, but this year, he dominated with first-place finishes at county, district, and regional levels.
Coaches Mark Deaton and Zane Turnipseed played significant roles in the Bay County wrestling scene, with North Bay Haven and Bay High emerging as top programs. At the state meet, North Bay Haven had four wrestlers place, including Neufeld in second, Koa DeLoach in third, and Jack Mulnix and Bear Siegal in sixth. The season saw several other standout performances, with athletes from various schools excelling in their weight classes.
