Chicago Sky Surprise Fans by Drafting Ajša Sivka and Hailey Van Lith in WNBA First Round

The Chicago Sky bolstered their roster in the WNBA draft by choosing Ajša Sivka from Slovenia as the 10th pick and Hailey Van Lith from TCU as the 11th pick acquired from the Minnesota Lynx. Van Lith, a 5-9 point guard, showcased her skills by leading TCU to the Elite Eight with impressive stats of 17.9 points, 5.4 assists, and 4.6 rebounds in her fifth college season.

Van Lith faced challenges adapting to a new role and system at LSU after excelling at Louisville, resulting in a drop in her scoring average. She now joins Chicago alongside former LSU teammate Angel Reese and will have the opportunity to learn from experienced guards Courtney Vandersloot and Ariel Atkins. The Sky also hold two second-round picks and have limited roster spots, meaning new players will compete for contracts during training camp.

In the draft, the Dallas Wings selected Paige Bueckers as the top pick, the Seattle Storm picked Dominique Malonga, and the Washington Mystics chose Sonia Citron. Chicago native Aneesah Morrow, who played at DePaul before LSU, was drafted by the Connecticut Sun at No. 7.
