Seventh-graders Lauren Longmire and Violet Trentham are enthusiastic members of the Unicycle Club at Coulter Grove Intermediate School in Maryville. They have been unicycling since third grade and are now leaders in the club. The girls enjoy the unique challenge of unicycling and have performed at various events, including basketball halftime shows. They practice weekly, mastering skills like riding five-footers and executing group formations and stunts.
Longmire and Trentham cherish the camaraderie and experiences gained from the Unicycle Club. They expressed a mix of excitement and nostalgia as they prepared for their final performance before aging out of the club. Unicycling requires balance and coordination, but the girls have honed their skills over the years, describing their riding as almost instinctual. Despite some initial apprehension, they have embraced the sport, forming lasting friendships and enjoying the sense of community within the club.
