By Scores.wiki Staff · March 25, 2026 at 09:37 PM ET

During Ohio's youth wild turkey hunt on April 12-13, 2025, young hunters under 18 years old harvested 1,740 birds. Participants were required to be accompanied by a non-hunting adult, as per ODNR Division of Wildlife guidelines. In the past three years, youth hunters have typically harvested around 1,571 turkeys during the designated youth weekends, with 1,785 turkeys taken in 2024. As of April 13, 6,731 youth turkey permits had been issued for the 2025 wild turkey hunting season, with a one-bird limit for each hunter.

Ohio's regular turkey hunting season for all ages is divided into two zones. The south zone, covering 83 of the state's 88 counties, has a hunting period running from April 19 to May 18. The northeast zone, comprising five counties, has a later season from May 3 to June 1 to align with the region's turkey incubation period. Hunters must possess a valid hunting license and spring turkey permit, except for those exempted, and are required to check their harvested turkeys by 11:30 p.m. on the day of the hunt through various methods including the HuntFish OH app, Ohio Wildlife Licensing System, or by phone.
