At the Class 4A, District 6 Track and Field Meet, George Jenkins High School secured team district titles for both boys and girls. Notable performances included Lakeland’s DJ Dobie maintaining an undefeated streak in the 100-meter dash, George Jenkins’ Chelsi Williams clinching four individual district titles, and Winter Haven’s Desirae Murray claiming victory in two events. Haines City boys excelled by sending the most athletes to regionals in over a decade.
George Jenkins coach Brian Robichaud praised the team's exceptional performance, highlighting achievements such as setting school records and impressive personal bests. The boys' team dominated with wins in six events, including Bryce Vern's record-breaking javelin throw. Individual champions from Haines City, like Isaiah Decant and Isaiah Augustin, showcased strong performances, with the team producing a remarkable number of regional qualifiers.
For the Jenkins girls, Chelsi Williams shone by securing multiple victories in events like the long jump and hurdles. Winter Haven's Desirae Murray and Olivia Celiscar also delivered strong performances, with Murray claiming double wins and Celiscar excelling in shot put. Haines City's Kayla Gabriel's high jump victory elevated her regional ranking, underscoring the impressive performances seen across various events at the meet.
