Annie Nabwe, a redshirt sophomore at the University of Minnesota and former Jamestown High School track and field athlete, secured her second consecutive conference title in the women's weight throw at the 2025 BIG 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships. Nabwe's winning throw measured 24.22 meters (79 feet, 5 inches), marking a personal best. She became the fifth Big Ten women's weight thrower to defend her conference title, the first since 2016.
Nabwe's success at the university is attributed to her dedication to "trusting the process." In addition to her recent achievements, she has excelled in shot put, discus, and hammer throw events, setting multiple records and earning recognition at both national and international competitions. As a Liberian athlete, Nabwe aims to inspire others from her country and continent to pursue track and field, with aspirations of competing professionally post-college. Her focus remains on the NCAA Outdoor Season, with upcoming competitions and a determination to set new personal bests and break records.
