Sturgis tennis team started strong with an 8-0 victory over Plainwell in a Wolverine Conference match. The team won all eight matches in straight sets, with players like Cora Phillips, Gracie Perry, Katherine Steele, and Mya Eicher securing wins in singles play. Doubles pairs also dominated, yielding only 11 games to Plainwell across four matches.
In other competitions, Sturgis soccer team has already exceeded last year's win total with two victories. Over the weekend, Sturgis tennis finished second at the Loy Norrix Quad, claiming flight championships and accumulating 16 points. Coach Andy Phillips praised the team's competitive spirit and highlighted the positive moments for future improvement. Sturgis also achieved victories against Kalamazoo Central, Loy Norrix, and Portage Northern earlier in the season.
