The University of Jamestown softball team secured an 8-0 victory over Valley City State University in their Sunday doubleheader at the Vikings' Softball Complex in Valley City, North Dakota. Key plays included Kayla Quintanilla's two-run triple in the first inning and homers from Lauren Weigel and Maddie Spaeth in the sixth inning.
In the second game, the Jimmies prevailed with an 8-3 win despite a comeback effort from the Vikings. The Jimmies took an early lead with a sacrifice groundout in the first inning and extended their lead with runs in the second and third innings. The Vikings fought back with home runs from Kylee Banerd, narrowing the score to 4-3, but the Jimmies' Abby Blair closed out the game with three consecutive outs. The Jimmies will next face Bellevue on April 18 at 3 p.m.
