Four Licking County League softball teams were ranked in the top 10 of the first Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association state poll. Lakewood ranked No. 3 in Division IV with three first-place votes, Licking Valley tied for No. 5 in Division IV, Watkins Memorial ranked No. 7 in Division II, and Newark Catholic ranked No. 9 in Division VII.
In a game against Logan, Newark secured a 7-2 victory with Lexi Shanaberg and Lilly Holmes contributing RBI singles during a six-run fifth inning. Additionally, Makenna Wilson went 4 for 4 with two doubles and three runs in Utica's 15-5 win against Northridge. Cheyenne Smith hit two home runs and drove in five runs for Utica, while Mary Cate Spang led the Vikings with two hits, a run, and two RBIs.
In other sporting events, Granville won 11-7 against Columbus Academy in a game where Beckett Long scored a hat trick. Johnstown secured a 6-5 overtime victory against Buckeye Valley, with A.J. Hollis scoring the winning goal. Newark suffered an 18-3 loss against Pickerington North, and in track and field, Licking Valley's Allison Osborn won the discus and shot put events. Watkins Memorial's Jordan Dye won the 200-meter dash and 400-meter events during a dual meet against Lancaster.
