The Gabonese Football Federation confirmed his death, with Boupendza playing for Zhejiang Professional FC at the time. Following a stint with FC Cincinnati in 2023-2024, where he scored seven goals in 24 appearances, Boupendza's time with the team was marred by a jaw injury sustained during an off-field altercation in April 2024. This incident led to the termination of his contract by FC Cincinnati in August of the same year. Subsequently, he briefly played for Rapid Bucuresti in Romania before joining Zhejiang in February.
