Sundowns emerged victorious in the first leg against Esperance and advanced to the semifinals of the competition. Both teams are set to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, with Sundowns drawn in a group with Ulsan, Borussia Dortmund, and Fluminense, while Esperance is grouped with Chelsea, Flamengo, and a replacement team after FIFA disqualified Leon. The Club World Cup, featuring 32 teams, is scheduled to take place in 11 U.S. cities from June 14 to July 13.
