The SailGP international series will add another Australian race at Fremantle, near Perth, in January next year. Fremantle, the former America's Cup venue, hosted the 1987 America's Cup race won by the American challenger Stars & Stripes 87. Following the Perth race, the series will move to Sydney harbor for the seventh SailGP race in February.
Spain won the most recent SailGP race in San Francisco, with a total of 12 national teams participating in this year's series. The high-speed series features identical 50-foot foiling catamarans, with upcoming races planned in Rio de Janeiro, Bermuda, New York, Halifax, Britain, France, and Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
