The Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners increased the number of antlerless deer permits by 126,000, totaling 1,312,000 statewide. New rifle deer hunting opportunities were also introduced. Extended firearms seasons for antlerless deer were approved, including DMAP properties from Dec. 26 to Jan. 24, and in WMU 4C from Jan. 2 to 19 due to Chronic Wasting Disease detection.
Changes to the hunting season include shortening the statewide archery bear season to one week. The Game Commission also extended the elk hunting season for auction or raffle winners by two months, starting on July 1. Antlerless licenses for all WMUs will be guaranteed to Pennsylvania residents before nonresident sales begin on July 7. Various hunting seasons for different wildlife species have been detailed, with limits and specific dates specified for each category.
