San Jose Sharks captain Logan Couture, aged 36, announced his retirement from hockey after a 16-season career with the franchise. Couture cited his inability to continue playing due to injuries, particularly related to osteitis pubis inflammation, which led to him missing the entirety of the 2024-25 season.
Throughout his career, Couture amassed 323 goals and 701 points in 933 regular-season games, along with 48 goals and 101 points in 116 postseason appearances. Notably, he played a key role in the Sharks' nine Stanley Cup playoff appearances, including their first-ever trip to the Final in 2015. Following his retirement, the Sharks, currently holding the NHL's worst record, are positioned with the strongest odds to secure the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NHL draft.
