Sidney Crosby was named the NHL's most complete player for the sixth consecutive season in the NHL Players' Association poll, with 33.81% of the vote, closely followed by Aleksander Barkov at 30.95%. Crosby also earned recognition as the league's smartest player and the player most trusted to win a faceoff.

Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers dominated the categories of best overall forward and best overall skater in the poll, while Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche was named the best overall defenseman. Surprisingly, Winnipeg Jets' Connor Hellebuyck placed third in the best goaltender vote behind Andrei Vasilevskiy of Tampa Bay and Igor Shesterkin of the New York Rangers.

In other categories, David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins and Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs tied for best fashion sense, and Bell Centre in Montreal was recognized for having the best ice. The NHLPA members expressed interest in adopting the "Jailbreak Goal" rule from the Professional Women's Hockey League, which won the vote for the most desirable innovative rule to bring to the NHL.
