Bryson DeChambeau commemorated his U.S. Open victory with a plaque at Pinehurst No. 2 following his fifth-place finish at the Masters. The plaque marks his decisive bunker shot on the 18th hole that secured his one-shot win over Rory McIlroy.
DeChambeau's plaque, featuring the date and his quote "The shot of my life," now stands next to the bunker. He is among the record 10,202 entrants accepted for the upcoming U.S. Open at Oakmont, with 50 players, including DeChambeau, exempt from qualifying stages. Local qualifiers will run from May 19, and final qualifying will take place in various locations leading up to the event in June.
Notably, the U.S. Open has received its highest number of entrants in history, surpassing the previous record set for the 2023 tournament. Participants range from 13-year-old Beck Patrick to 73-year-old Mac O’Grady, highlighting the diverse field competing for the prestigious championship title.
