Tennessee's current quarterback roster consists of redshirt freshman Jake Merklinger and true freshman George MacIntyre. Nico Iamaleava, a redshirt sophomore, transferred from the team, leaving the Vols with only two scholarship quarterbacks. Head coach Josh Heupel expressed the need to fill this gap by adding a quarterback from the NCAA transfer portal before the spring window closes on April 25.
Looking ahead, Tennessee secured a commitment from five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon for the 2026 season. They have also extended offers to several quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting cycle, including Jared Curtis, Dia Bell, Jonas Williams, Helaman Casuga, Tait Reynolds, Kane Archer, and Josiah Oxendine. Beyond the 2026 class, the Vols have offered scholarships to quarterback prospects in the 2027 and 2028 classes, such as Wonderful Monds IV, Neimann Lawrence, Kavian Bryant, and Blake Roskopf. Additional quarterback recruits for 2027 and 2028 include Peyton Houston, Trent Seaborn, Jayce Johnson, Trae Taylor, and Caiden Belton. Tennessee is actively seeking to strengthen its quarterback roster through recruiting efforts across multiple classes.
