Stuttgart's call for change stems from their belief that the referee's decision to issue a second yellow card to Woltemade was an error that could have been rectified through VAR intervention. Currently, VAR can only be used for goals, penalties, direct red cards, and cases of mistaken identity, excluding yellow-to-red card offenses like Woltemade's.
The club's plea for reconsideration highlights the potential impact of allowing VAR to intervene in such situations, although concerns about further slowing down the game have also been raised. Despite the outcome, Woltemade's suspension stands, and he will miss the upcoming match against Union Berlin.
