Eastern Michigan University has appointed Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby as the football team's assistant general manager, marking the first active professional football player to join a college team's administrative staff. Crosby, an alumnus of Eastern Michigan, will be responsible for scouting high school players and enhancing their NIL and recruiting efforts, in addition to supporting fundraising, alumni relations, and student-athlete assistance as a Special Assistant to the AD.
Crosby, who played for the Eastern Michigan Eagles from 2015 to 2018, holds a special place in the school's history as a member of the Ring of Honor, with the football field at Rynearson Stadium renamed in his honor following a generous donation. The Raiders recently extended Crosby's contract with a lucrative three-year, $106.5 million deal, making him one of the highest-paid non-quarterbacks in the NFL, a distinction now surpassed by other players.
In the previous season, the Eastern Michigan Eagles concluded with a 5-7 record and a 2-6 standing in MAC play. Their 2025 recruiting class ranks 108th nationally, with wide receiver Shawn Fishwick as the sole hard commit for the 2026 class, as reported by 247 Sports.
