Auburn freshman quarterback Deuce Knight faced pressure during the recent A-Day practice, his first appearance in front of Tiger fans. With expected starter Jackson Arnold sidelined due to a hamstring issue, Knight had the spotlight on him. Despite making key throws, he also threw two interceptions, which Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze attributed to being uncharacteristic based on Knight's performance throughout spring practice.
Freeze praised Knight's ability to place passes accurately and lead the offense in red-zone situations. He believes that reviewing game footage will help Knight address the mistakes made during the A-Day practice. Knight will continue to compete with Arnold and transfer Ashton Daniels for the starting quarterback position leading up to the 2025 season opener against Baylor on August 29.
