Matt Rhule, head coach of the football program, has decided to hold a live Red-White scrimmage on April 26, deviating from the initial plan of skipping the traditional spring game. This scrimmage, part of the first-ever Husker Games, will not feature established players or known starters but will provide an opportunity for players competing for spots on the 105-man roster and those who have been informed they won't make it.
Rhule's intention with this decision is to support players who continue to train despite knowing they won't be part of the final roster. The coach's change of heart came after a period of reflection and peace, citing prayer as a significant factor. The Husker Games will offer a full day of activities for fans, featuring previews of the 2025 football, volleyball, and soccer teams, along with various events and competitions. Gates to Memorial Stadium will open at 12:30 p.m., with football activities commencing at 2 p.m., and tickets will be priced at $10 for adults and $1 for youth eighth grade and younger.
