The University of Jamestown football team concluded its spring practices with a joint session alongside Minnesota State University Moorhead at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium. The teams engaged in a 90-minute practice, with both first- and second-string units participating in various drills. Coaches utilized the opportunity for extensive evaluation and player development, focusing on fundamental plays and providing every roster member with playing time.
The practice, initiated by Dragons head coach Steve Laqua, aimed at fostering player growth and assessing team performance. Jimmies head coach Brian Mistro highlighted standout performances by players like Erastus Antsino, Mason Whitley, and several defensive backs and linebackers. The practice not only facilitated valuable player assessment but also helped the team acclimate to new offensive strategies under coordinator Shane Kelly. Looking ahead to the fall, the team anticipates a competitive quarterback battle between Cole Hentges and Nick Martinez, who showed promise in limited appearances last season.
