Colorado football will retire the jerseys of former players Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders during the upcoming spring game. Hunter, the second player in Colorado history to win the Heisman Trophy, excelled as a cornerback and wide receiver during the 2024 season. Sanders set numerous program records in his two seasons at the school, leaving with 100 school records, including career passing touchdowns and completion percentage. The duo, who initially played at Jackson State, played a significant role in elevating Colorado's football program from mediocrity to a 9-4 record last season.
Hunter and Sanders will join the ranks of Rashaan Salaam, Byron “Whizzer” White, Joe Romig, and Bobby Anderson as the fifth and sixth players in Colorado football history to have their numbers retired. The two players, highly anticipated prospects in the upcoming NFL draft, have generated substantial buzz, with Hunter expected to be a top-five pick and Sanders likely to be selected in the first round as the second-ranked quarterback in the class.
