The San Francisco 49ers announced that offensive guard Austen Pleasants and tight end Jake Tonges have re-signed their one-year exclusive rights contracts with the team. Pleasants, who initially joined the 49ers in December after being released from the Bears, participated in three games last season, playing 67 offensive snaps and 14 on special teams. Since entering the NFL in 2020 as an undrafted free agent from Ohio, Pleasants has had stints with the Jaguars, Panthers, Chargers, and Cardinals.
On the other hand, Tonges, aged 25, appeared in 16 games for the 49ers in the previous season, accumulating 34 offensive snaps and 232 on special teams while registering two tackles. Tonges began his NFL journey as an undrafted free agent with the Bears in 2022, later joining the 49ers’ practice squad in September 2023 before securing a futures contract with the team in February 2024.
