Marcia Pankratz, the long-standing coach of Michigan field hockey, has retired after a successful 25-year career. During her tenure, Pankratz led the Wolverines to 10 Big Ten regular-season titles, eight tournament titles, and the 2001 NCAA championship. She finished her career with a record of 371-162 (.696) overall and 132-55 (.706) in the Big Ten, earning accolades such as six-time Big Ten Coach of the Year.
Following Pankratz's retirement, Kristi Gannon Fisher, a former Michigan player and assistant coach, has been named as the new head coach of the program. Fisher, a two-time All-American and Big Ten Athlete of the Year, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the team and called it a lifelong dream come true. She brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been part of the program as both a player and an assistant coach for nine seasons. Fisher's appointment signals a new chapter for Michigan field hockey as she aims to build on the program's legacy under Pankratz's leadership.
