Cheney High School diver Alma Smith, a two-time Washington state champion, has qualified to represent the United States on the AAU Diving National Team after his performance at the Red, White, Blue Qualifiers in Portland on April 4. At 17 years old, Smith has been diving for four years and has achieved success at the state and national levels, winning the state championship in 2023 and 2024. He will compete in the 1-meter and 3-meter events at the international competition in Rijeka, Croatia, from July 3–6.
In other sports news, Gonzaga University's Grace Lee was named the West Coast Conference women's golfer for March, following three top-10 finishes in events including a first-place finish at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational. Gonzaga men's cross country and track and field coach Pat Tyson announced the signing of Jack Huarte, a standout from Eastside Catholic High School in Seattle, who is set to join the Bulldogs this fall after impressive performances, including a first-place finish at the NXR Northwest Regional Championships.
