Houston is set to honor boxing legend George Foreman during a memorial service in his hometown, where family, friends, and the public will pay tribute. The service at the Wortham Theater Center will feature speeches from Foreman's son, George Foreman IV, Houston Mayor John Whitmire, and former boxer Michael Moorer, whom Foreman defeated in 1994 to become the oldest heavyweight champion at age 45.
Foreman, who passed away at age 76 on March 21, rose to fame as a two-time heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist. After retiring from boxing, he pursued a career as an ordained minister and entrepreneur, gaining recognition for the George Foreman Grill, which sold over 100 million units and brought him significant wealth. His legacy extends beyond the ring, encompassing his religious endeavors, business ventures, and family life with 12 children, including five sons named George Edward Foreman.
