Section V's Division I boys composite team secured a gold medal at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Bowling Championships on March 15 at Strike N' Spare Lanes in Syracuse. Spencerport senior Jesse Taccone's high-game of 280 propelled Section V to victory, overcoming a morning deficit. In addition, Midlakes and Section V's Division II girls composite team both clinched third place in their respective tournaments, marking the first year the NYSPHSAA's composite tournament was split into two divisions.
The Section V boys' impressive performance included notable bowlers such as Taccone, who also claimed the Class A individual championship. Taccone, along with consistent bowler Nathan Chaffee from Fairport, contributed significantly to the team's success. Brayden Masclee's crucial performance in the final moments secured Section V's gold medal, demonstrating his consistency and success in past tournaments. Coached by Mark Foeder, the team's ability to adjust to changing lane conditions and opponents played a key role in their victory.
