Lipscomb University, the Atlantic Sun Conference champion, has appointed Kevin Carroll as its new men's basketball head coach. Carroll, who previously coached at Division II Trevecca Nazarene University, achieved notable success, including setting program win records and securing the school's first South Region Poll ranking. Lipscomb's athletic director, Philip Hutcheson, expressed excitement about Carroll's return, citing his coaching acumen and ability to build strong relationships with players.
Carroll takes over from Lennie Acuff, who departed to coach at Samford after leading Lipscomb to its second NCAA Tournament appearance in his six-year tenure. Under Acuff, Lipscomb enjoyed three consecutive 20-win seasons and clinched the Atlantic Sun Conference championship by defeating North Alabama. Carroll aims to maintain the university's high standards and promote its Christian values, emphasizing his commitment to upholding the program's legacy while showcasing Lipscomb as a top Christian institution in the country.
