Mickayla Perdue, a Springfield High School graduate, is transferring to Arizona to finish her college basketball career after two successful seasons at Cleveland State. The 5-foot-7 guard, who averaged 20 points per game last season, has accumulated over 2,000 points in her college career, which also includes stints at Toledo and Glenville State. Perdue was named the Horizon League Player of the Year this season, following her Newcomer of the Year award in 2024.

Perdue's decision to transfer is part of a trend among women's basketball players, with more than 1,000 entering the transfer portal since the end of the season. Other local high school graduates like Cotie McMahon, Macie Taylor, and Taylor Scohy have also made moves to new schools. Perdue is one of eight players to depart Cleveland State after the team's WNIT semifinal run this season. Marcus Hartman, a digital sports columnist and reporter at Cox's Ohio newspapers, provided this information about Perdue's career progression.
