Harbor Springs head coaches John and Amy Flynn will not return for the upcoming basketball season as confirmed by the school on April 18. John coached the varsity boys team while Amy led the varsity girls team, both having spent four years in their respective roles. Amy achieved an 80-14 record with two district championships and a 14-0 conference title, while John led the boys to a 60-35 mark and won two district titles, including a 21-4 season.
Both John and Amy, alumni of Grand Valley State University and former standout players, were candidates for the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan regional coach of the year award. Their daughter, Olivia, excelled in basketball, finishing second in the state's Miss Basketball Award voting and will play at Western Michigan University. Their son, Braeden, is close to becoming the boys' all-time leading scorer at Harbor Springs. Further details regarding their departure as coaches were not provided at the time of the announcement.
