Alyssa Ustby, a Rochester Lourdes graduate and former University of North Carolina player, signed an undrafted free-agent contract with the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks. Despite going undrafted in the recent WNBA Draft, the 6-foot-1 forward was a two-time first-team All-ACC selection and finished her college career as North Carolina's all-time leading rebounder with 1,251 rebounds.
Ustby, known for her athleticism and versatility, averaged 11 points and nearly three assists per game in her final season at North Carolina. She holds the distinction of being the only player in the university's history to achieve a triple-double. The Sparks, who had a challenging 2023 season, are looking to bolster their roster with Ustby's addition as they aim to improve their performance in the upcoming season, starting with their opening game against the Golden State Valkyries on May 15.
