Notre Dame guard Sonia Citron was selected as the No. 3 pick in the first round of the WNBA Draft, averaging 14.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game with a 48.4% field goal shooting and 89% free throw accuracy. Her teammate, Olivia Miles, chose to transfer to TCU instead of entering the draft, where she was projected as the No. 2 pick. Citron, an Eastchester, N.Y. native, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play close to home with the Mystics.
Joining Citron in the draft were forward Maddy Westbeld and guard Liatu King from Notre Dame. Westbeld, a 6-foot-3 forward from Kettering, Ohio, returned from foot surgery to contribute 7.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. King, selected by the Los Angeles Sparks, averaged a double-double with 11.5 points and 10.4 rebounds per game during her one year at Notre Dame, starting in all 33 games. Both players have had successful collegiate careers, with Westbeld being a three-time All-ACC selection and King accumulating 1,549 points and 1,172 rebounds over her time in college.
