Missouri women’s basketball recently secured a commitment from high-scoring Illinois State guard Shannon Dowell, who announced her transfer to the Tigers on social media. Dowell, a native of O’Fallon, Illinois, was the fifth-leading scorer in the Missouri Valley Conference last season, averaging 17.6 points per game and contributing significantly to Illinois State's WNIT Final Four run.
Dowell, a 5-foot-10 guard, boasts a solid shooting record with a career 48.8% field goal percentage and 30.5% from beyond the arc. With two years of eligibility remaining, she is set to make a substantial impact on the Tigers' roster. The addition of Dowell marks Missouri's third commitment from the transfer portal, underlining Coach Kellie Harper's strategic recruitment approach to strengthen the team for the upcoming season.
