Memphis star guard PJ Haggerty, AAC Player of the Year and second-team All-American, has entered the transfer portal. Standing at 6-foot-3, the redshirt sophomore began his college career at TCU before moving to Tulsa and eventually settling at Memphis. During his time at Memphis, Haggerty played a vital role in leading the team to a 29-6 record, clinching both regular-season and conference tournament championships in the AAC. Averaging 21.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game, he also showed improvement in his perimeter shooting, making more than one 3-pointer per game at a rate of over 36%.
With Haggerty's decision to enter the transfer portal, he becomes a highly sought-after prospect for college basketball programs looking to bolster their rosters. Memphis coach Penny Hardaway faces the challenge of rebuilding his starting lineup as Haggerty joins other departing starters Tyrese Hunter, Colby Rogers, Nick Jourdain, and Dain Dainja, who are all ineligible for the upcoming season.
