Hailey Van Lith, the Chicago Sky's No. 11 overall draft pick, was unveiled alongside another first-round pick during a recent press conference. The 5-foot-7 guard, coming off an impressive college career at TCU where she earned accolades like Big 12 Player of the Year, expressed enthusiasm about joining the Sky, a team she had targeted.
Van Lith's reunion with former LSU teammate Angel Reese sparked interest, with Van Lith aiming to infuse the Sky's young core with "youthful flair" and "fun energy." She acknowledged the transition to the WNBA will be a change but looks forward to playing alongside bigger players like Reese and Kamila Cardoso to elevate her game. Van Lith's diverse collegiate experience and stint with the U.S. Olympic 3x3 team, where she won bronze, have prepared her well for adapting to new leagues and roles.
In addition to Van Lith, the Sky also brought in draft picks Ajsa Sivka, Maddy Westbeld, and Aicha Coulibaly, gearing up for the upcoming WNBA season that kicks off on May 17 against the Indiana Fever after commencing training camp on April 27.
