Former Detroit Pistons player and executive, Joe Dumars, is reportedly a top candidate to lead basketball operations for the New Orleans Pelicans, as per ESPN's Shams Charania. Dumars, a Hall of Famer, previously served as the Pistons' president of basketball operations for 14 years, earning the NBA Executive of the Year title in 2003 and clinching an NBA championship in 2004.
The Pelicans recently parted ways with David Griffin, their former head of basketball operations, after a disappointing season that saw the team finish with a 21-61 record, making Dumars a potential replacement. Currently overseeing NBA basketball operations, Dumars has a strong basketball background, having excelled as a player with the Pistons and later transitioning into a successful front office career that included multiple playoff appearances and an NBA title during his tenure with Detroit.
