Ethan Kizer, a former Metamora all-stater, has committed to playing college basketball for South Dakota after entering the transfer portal last month. The 6-foot-5 sophomore forward did not see game time in the 2024-25 season with South Alabama but had appeared in 17 games and made six starts during his freshman year, averaging 1.9 points and 1.7 rebounds.
South Dakota, a Summit League team, had a 19-14 record last season, finishing fifth in the league at 9-7. Kizer's former teammate at Metamora, Jonah Funk, is also committed to play for the Coyotes. Kizer had a successful high school career, helping lead Metamora to the 2023 Class 3A state championship and earning first-team all-state honors from the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association and The Associated Press. He scored a total of 1,515 points, ranking third on Metamora's all-time scoring list.
