Former Clemson forward Asa Thomas, after two seasons with the Tigers, has decided to transfer to Furman in the Southern Conference. The 6-foot-7, 200-pound Illinois native redshirted his first year due to a shoulder injury in 2023-24, and in the recent season, he played limited minutes in 12 games, averaging 1.2 points per game and showcasing his shooting skills.
Thomas, a three-star prospect out of Lake Forest High School, demonstrated his offensive efficiency during his time on the Under Armour Association circuit. He led the Illinois Wolves with 15.1 points per game and was recognized for his shooting prowess beyond the arc. With a fresh start at Furman, Thomas aims to make an impact with his skills and experience gained from his time at Clemson.
The decision to transfer comes after Clemson's early NCAA Tournament exit, marking Thomas as the first player from the team to enter the transfer portal. As he joins Furman, Thomas looks forward to contributing to the Paladins' basketball program and continuing his collegiate career in the Southern Conference.
