Former Alabama basketball player Sam Walters, a former four-star recruit, has committed to Mississippi State after transferring from Michigan. Walters, a 6-foot-10 forward, returns to the SEC after spending one season with the Wolverines, where he averaged 5 points and 1.6 rebounds per game before suffering a season-ending back injury in February.

Walters had notable performances during his freshman year at Alabama, contributing to key victories in the NCAA tournament. Ranked as the No. 68 overall recruit by On3, he brings experience and potential to the Bulldogs, who finished 21-13 last season and made an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Mississippi State's addition of Walters comes after losing KeShawn Murphy to Auburn in the transfer portal. With the Bulldogs looking to build on their previous season's performance, Walters' return to the SEC presents an opportunity for growth and development under coach Chris Jans.
