Porter Moser is set to bring on board Justin Scott as an assistant coach for the Sooners, filling the vacancy left by Armon Gates' departure to Minnesota. Scott, previously Saint Joseph’s associate head coach, is also the stepfather of Xzayvier Brown, the star point guard who has recently entered the transfer portal. Scott's expertise lies in "SITUATIONAL EXCELLENCE," focusing on game and clock management, rule education, and coaching during dead-ball situations.
Scott boasts coaching experience from Saint Joseph’s and Arcadia University, where he achieved a 104-87 record and led the team to multiple achievements, including a historic 23-6 season in 2018-19. Additionally, Scott served as the head coach for St. Vincent and the Grenadines senior men’s team, leading them to notable finishes in international play. Brown, with impressive stats from the previous season, is expected to join Scott in Norman and further strengthen the Sooners' lineup. Oklahoma’s assistant coaching staff will now include Scott, Ryan Humphrey, Brock Morris, Clayton Custer, and Josh Oppenheimer.
