Ken Johnson recently left his assistant coaching position at Georgetown to join Indiana University under newly hired head coach Darian DeVries. Johnson, a University of Maryland graduate in Biology and a DMV native, brings with him a wealth of coaching experience from various institutions such as Towson University, Indiana University, and University of Louisville, among others. His success in recruiting and coaching has been notable, particularly during his time with Team Takeover AAU, where he helped develop numerous NCAA Division 1 and NBA players.
Despite his coaching success, Johnson has faced controversy during his career. He was implicated in recruiting scandals at Louisville and LaSalle, leading to his dismissal from both programs. Rhode Island University also hired Johnson despite an NCAA show-cause penalty that limited his recruiting activities. Johnson's move to Indiana marks a new chapter in his coaching journey, where he will look to contribute to the revival of the Hoosiers basketball program under DeVries' leadership.
