Over 11,000 spectators attended baseball games in Knoxville on Tuesday. Covenant Health Park hosted the Knoxville Smokies' opening day game, where they defeated Chattanooga 5-4 in the new downtown stadium with a capacity of 6,355.
In a separate game at Lindsey Nelson Stadium, the University of Tennessee's baseball team, the Vols, secured a 13-3 victory against Bellarmine in front of 5,305 fans. The combined attendance for both games at Covenant Health Park and Lindsey Nelson Stadium reached 11,756. Plans are being discussed for the Vols to potentially play at Covenant Health Park in the future, as mentioned by Boyd Sports CEO Doug Kirchhofer in November 2023.
