Harrison baseball junior Jack Gonzalez introduced a new dunking tradition after scoring a run during a game against West Lafayette at Bob Friend Ball Park. Gonzalez dunks a 22-inch basketball on a miniature hoop set up by teammates as a celebratory gesture. The tradition originated from Gonzalez's excessive dunking in school hallways, leading to the confiscation of the hoop and ball, which he repurposed for baseball celebrations.
The dunking celebration has become a regular occurrence for Harrison as they have scored ten or more runs in each of their six wins in the 2025 season. In the game against West Lafayette, Gonzalez contributed with two doubles and four RBIs, showcasing the team's emphasis on speed and chaos over power hitting. Pitcher Chase Gothrup also excelled, striking out seven batters in four innings, demonstrating improved command of his pitches through dedicated offseason training with Coach Dave Schwartz.
