The Seattle Mariners designated 37-year-old former Albright College standout pitcher Casey Lawrence for assignment on Monday after his recent call-up to the Major Leagues. Lawrence secured a win in his latest appearance against the Houston Astros, pitching three innings and allowing two runs on four hits and a walk, with no strikeouts.

Lawrence, who has played three seasons for the Mariners since 2017, boasts a 6.73 ERA in 127 innings in the majors, with a 16.6% strikeout rate and 8.5% walk rate. The Mariners have previously claimed Lawrence off waivers and signed him to minor league contracts, giving them the option to place him on waivers or trade him within the next five days, with waivers involving a 48-hour process.

During his time at Albright College, Lawrence achieved an 18-8 record with a 2.81 ERA in 256 2/3 innings pitched. He holds the all-time strikeout record at Albright with 251 and also displayed solid offensive capabilities as a first baseman, batting .256 with four home runs and 41 RBIs.
