Cincinnati Reds first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to low back inflammation. Manager Terry Francona stated that efforts to manage the issue were not yielding improvement, prompting the decision to provide Encarnacion-Strand with an epidural to alleviate the discomfort. Encarnacion-Strand, who had a shortened season last year due to a right wrist fracture, is currently hitting .158 with two home runs and five RBIs in 18 games this season.
In response to Encarnacion-Strand's absence, the Reds have recalled infielder Noelvi Marte from Triple-A Louisville. Various players, including Jeimer Candelario and Santiago Espinal, are available to fill in at first base during Encarnacion-Strand's recovery period. Spencer Steer, who has been recovering from a shoulder issue, is also nearing a return to the lineup.
