The Milwaukee Brewers have optioned third baseman Oliver Dunn to Class AAA Nashville due to his struggles at the plate. Dunn, batting .167 with a .205 on-base percentage and .222 slugging percentage in 41 plate appearances, is part of a lackluster third-base platoon with Vinny Capra. The 27-year-old has also faced challenges defensively this season.
The Brewers are yet to announce a corresponding move following Dunn's option. Currently, Caleb Durbin and Andruw Monasterio are the team's infield options on the 40-man roster. Despite Dunn's struggles, the Brewers' third basemen collectively hold a .421 OPS through 19 games, not the worst in the league. Dunn had a brief positive moment with a squeeze bunt using a torpedo bat in his last appearance before being sent down.
