In other news, a petition was filed by lawyer Jeffrey Lenkov on behalf of Pete Rose to reinstate him from baseball's permanent ineligible list. Rose agreed to be placed on the list in 1989 after an investigation revealed he had bet on the Cincinnati Reds while playing for and managing the team. Despite a previous petition for reinstatement being rejected by Manfred in 2015, President Trump has expressed his intention to pardon Rose, who holds numerous records in baseball including the most career hits and games played.
