BLUE ROOF BEAU is by a 12% debut sire from an unraced dam; the second dam was a Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed in her career; Englehart is as reliable as they come with first-time starters. PROSPECTOR has the experience edge on most of these, with two starts at Gulfstream over the winter, where he landed in two very strong MSW heats to no avail; ships up to face NY-bred maidens while turning back in distance. BIG FAT GOALIE is from a female family that is full of talented and versatile runners; his trainer has a positive ROI with first-time starters over the past five years.

REMI'S MOON got wired when stretched out to a mile last month; each of his last three sprints have come over wet tracks, which he handles, though his top two figures have come over fast dirt; moves outside with tactical speed. LOOMS BOLDLY sped clear early and just failed to last over REMI'S MOON for this tag back in January over a wet track; back-classer was claimed out of a win six weeks later, and he has not run his best race in two starts for the new connections; better than that, and he has speed. SHERIFF BIANCO got some overdue class relief when winning three starts back in the mud; was claimed out of that race, and came right back to win again 22 days later; drops back down after getting in too tough last time.

TRICKY BUSINESS is a half-brother to Russian Realm, whose four career wins to date have all come over this one-mile distance; he is also a full-brother to debut winner Super Swift, who also races for Weaver; breaks from the outside post, and gets Prat. SFUMATO and JUDGE BOUSHAY debuted in the same race sprinting, and both were away from the gate poorly as that race was won on the front end in fast time (91 Beyer for the winner). SFUMATO is a half-brother to the talented NY-bred Dolomite, who is best sprinting, but did place in a couple of stakes going long, including a Grade 2; back to dirt after a failed turf attempt. JUDGE BOUSHAY didn't take much money in that first start, but he stayed on well after that poor beginning, and just missed getting up for third; just went evenly in a pace-dominated race over this distance last time; tries again, this time with blinkers on.

RIGHT TIMING dueled and was caught late in her well-bet debut sprinting on dirt; went favored again at Keeneland last month, but failed to improve - though she did not have a clean trip in that race; has a lot of turf in her female family. PRAIRIE PRINCESS makes her debut for Brown, and she also has plenty of turf on the bottom of her pedigree; the dam is a sister to Valiance, who won the first three starts of her career on grass, before eventually switching over to win a Grade 1 on dirt. JORDAN'S LOVE stretches out following two sprints to begin her career; Maclean's Music is a versatile sire, and the dam, who was a winner on grass, is a sister to Grade 1 turf winner Up With the Birds.

P MUTTER PICKLE ran an underrated race off the layoff two winters ago, before stretching out to post a pair of sharp wins over this distance; was last seen at Saratoga last summer trying to go long in stakes company; tough in here if ready to go as she starts back for a new trainer. POINT OF REFERENCE raced greenly and wide in her debut in Florida; was much more clued in last time while sitting up on the pace out wide, before taking over and gamely denying main rival Irresistible, who appeared to have the late momentum; holding the upside for top connections. BRUNCH WITH AMY ran well while nearly overcoming a slow start in her first start off the claim for Rice; came right back to score an easy win a month later, then tried a different running style last time to no avail; in good form, and has options from the outside post.

DEMOCRACY DEFENDER ran a big race on debut when making a wide run around the final turn to gain contention, and taking over in the stretch, only to get run down late by next-out stakes winner Vasy; he has endured two unlucky trips since, while running quite well both times; one more chance. COORDINATOR was the lone first-time starter in that field in the Keeneland debut, where he wound up last early, and then finished gamely behind a pair of talented rivals; has a better post for this; eligible to improve quickly. DONEGAL TIME had a pace in front of him while outrun early in his debut, but he still looked green while trying to rally through the stretch; has been given some time by Pletcher, and he has breezed seven times on the way back.

SANSONE ran well without winning in all three starts as a 3yo; finally looked like he might start delivering on the big sticker price when trouncing maidens in his return from the layoff at Gulfstream; chased along the inside and failed to land a blow in a tough allowance here last time; willing to give him one more as he moves outside for this; blinkers on. BOLD STRENGTH flashed potential in his debut last summer, after which he missed six months; he looked good winning his first start back, and he has also run well in the two starts since, including that last one when finishing well ahead of the top one. FORT NELSON has gotten into good form since being claimed for $50k earlier this year; 2 for 2 over this distance for Rice, and getting a turnback after contesting the pace going longer last time; dangerous.

Wouldn't mind seeing KAZ OIL CHANGER try some less aggressive tactics in this spot as he turns back, though think he is going to appreciate getting back to a mile, regardless; he has run well from off the pace in the past, and breaking toward the outside offers his rider some options; sticking with him at a price. STICKUPWITHOUTAGUN was a clear-cut winner of his dirt debut last summer, after which he was thrown into Grade 1 company to no avail; blazed clear on a fast pace and tired in his return from the layoff; figures tough in this spot. MAX MONEY faced the likes of Napoleon Solo and Bravaro while going 0 for 5 as a juvenile, though he was stakes-placed with a 79 Beyer; earned a slight new Beyer top winning off the layoff last month; takes the next logical step.

Siding with the more lightly-raced runners in the finale, while realizing they have to improve to defeat their more established (and faster) rivals. ORTUS is now 7 years old but has only 13 starts behind him. He ran well in his first two starts for this trainer last year while in the claiming ranks; was outside from a wide draw in that race that was run at the wrong distance two back; he was brought back on short rest for his next start, where he was involved on a solid pace in a race that went to closers; might get overlooked for an underrated trainer. A LITTLE AT FIRST raced greenly in his sprint debut, before gaining late ground and then carrying on past the wire; lost early position in traffic when stretched out for his second start, before finishing well once again; put it all together in his final start as a 2yo; well-bred with forward to go. JACK'S WORLD looked like he needed his debut at Saratoga; disappointed a bit in his next turf start, but he also improved in his final start of the year; Lasix on for the 3yo debut.

SILLY RISK goes from one good barn to another. Team D'Angelo are 20% with new runners. This filly exits a key race where 2 of 6 returned to win with figs of 64 and 71 (another finished 2nd with a 79 Beyer). This filly is bred to run all day and drops in class. If worried about the latter then notice that this Repole runner only cost 3K. LIST has back to back solid route tries and even brings some upside to this spot. Race flow is only average for this grinder though. MISCHIEVOUS SCOUT drops a notch and has tactical speed to help the trip. Is this filly quickest to the first call? An early breather would be something she has never had before.

KINETIC STONE drops in class and returns to the synth all with Vasquez up who is 22% for team Chapman. There isn't much pace in this race so this guy won't be that far off whoever finds the front end. The rail start shouldn't be a problem for a horse that has made 44 starts. RIPTON'S MUSIC has speed and draws outside so perhaps the front end is his. He exits the key common race where 2 of 4 returned to win (the only available Beyer as of this writing is 76). This colt missed a Beyer top by only three points in his most recent. BLAZING BUCCHERO just ran better and that was after breaking last. Third out for new barn can only help. A pair of recent works is just right.

DRUM ROLL cuts back to a sprint and this is the distance of her 80 Beyer top. Team David are 26% going turf to sprint and 19% going route to sprint. Class drop looks like the money run to us. The fairly quick turnaround bodes well, right? MISPRINT just won for new barn and is a hard trier in general. She has done most of her winning on this surface. Team Fawkes are 29% with their repeating winners. STUBOLD is the best of the rest.

GIANT TEDDY gets good race flow as this pace is fast. He goes second time on this sod with his previous quite good. New barn is 14% off the claim and we like Herrera up. A pair of recent work is never a bad thing. TAP TO MISCHIEF not only won his debut on the grass but it was sprinting at Aqueduct. He was just as good in his second start even though it was against first time winners. Did something go awry in his last start? Works are OK while new barn is 0 for 11 with recent acquisitions. This guy can pass runners and figures a good trip. Oh, we like that connections find a spot where this guy can't be claimed. BOAT'S A ROCKIN likes to win and likes this sod well enough. He just ran better, draws inside, and wants to pass runners. THOUGHT CONTROL is by a 6% debut turf sire. His dam went 2-1-0-1 on the green and banked 43K. Lone grass sib is 9-0-2-1 and earned 39K.

SPEED CONTROL figures a big price. He just blew up the tote at 34-1. Aren't those starts two and three back better than they look? This guy pushed the pace in one and we know he is better off the pace. He broke a step slow in his other start. It seems that a mile is his best distance and there is even some pace to chase in here. BLESS AMERICA has some speed and could hold the rail if sent. He can stalk also and that makes him versatile. Main question is whether he likes a real dirt surface or not. PRINCE DAVID is better of late. He has hit the exacta on this dirt in three of four starts. He certainly out ran his odds in his most recent and that was on the class jump into open foes.

VIGANO returns off the short freshening and perhaps that proves the tipping point. This gelding draws the attack post and likes an elongated sprint. He can fire fresh but has yet to win on this dirt. Voided claim just doesn't scare us. ALARIK tried tougher last out and paid the price. He still got a 70 Beyer. He tries seven panels for the first time but was capable going 6 1/2 so the added half furlong should be within reach. Tactical speed comes in handy in a race that lacks pace. FIVEEYESONSKYSTARS drops in class off the long layoff. This is a tough distance off a layoff and works aren't our favorite.

THANKFULLY won't be that far off the early pace as there is little pace in this race. If fact, we wouldn't be shocked if this filly actually found the front end. She chased a sub 43 half mile only two back on this sod. The best part is that she doesn't need an early breather to run well. She often gets play and that should continue today. CORBET'S CRUSH is by a 6% debut turf sire. Her dam went 23-4-4-3 on the sod and banked 305K (won turf debut). One of two sibs won on the grass and is 9-1-0-2 for 16K. This filly has some speed and could get a good trip. ROYALLY BLUE got Beyers of 73 and 81 in her last two local turf starts. She can handle the synth if this comes off. Her lack of speed is the main knock.

WINPLACEANDSHOW has some speed and draws outside main pace foes. She broke her maiden going 6 1/2 panels so 7 furlongs is no sweat. This filly has some upside and draws outside again. DON'T DO IT LUCY has worked four times since her maiden win and that figures as she adds a full furlong today. Team D'Angelo are 20% with their repeating winners. Connections find a good spot and race flow is more than fast enough. Reyes gets a leg up and is 25% for this barn. CAURA exits a key race where 2 of 3 returned to win with figs of 70 and 55. This filly got a taste of winning and liked it when she ran a Beyer top while facing first time winners. She has improved her Beyer in four straight so why not five?

RELENTLESS LADY is by a 18% debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the green. Two sibs failed to win on the sod but tried it little. This filly brings fresh speed to the race and this pace is average. We like how she broke sharp in her debut. Her turf and distance Tommies are outstanding at 340/409. OUR PERFECT AMANDA is by the same sire as our top pick. Her dam never tried the green. One of two sibs won on the sod and is 7-2-3-1 when doing so for 47K. Let's see if the grass or further maturity can put this filly over the top. IGNIS COR did beat over half the field home in her debut going this distance and on this sod. Class drop helps as does a return to sprinting.

JUSTINE weakened late to second after opening up a clear lead in the stretch when meeting males off a winter layoff in her first try for Dale D on opening day. The 4yo daughter of elite sire Justify should be the boss in this maiden special for distaffers with that tightener out of the way. SHE REIGNS is turning back to three-quarters off a string of dull efforts around two turns at Gulfstream under Aebly, who's 3 for 6 at the meet for good route/sprint trainer Casse. EMPTY HANDED is by a 16% first-out sire and her dam dropped five winners, including a stakes winner on turf.

GLOBETROTTING put together a productive four-race winter campaign on the dirt at Mahoning in non-two allowance company. He graduated in a $10K Tapeta sprint here last September and should have a fitness edge on all of his rivals except for maybe DJOSER. The latter was a minor player in her last few going a mile on the grass at Turf Paraidse. American Pharoah has sired 14% winners in synthetic sprints. JAMIESTA had a wide trip over a rail-biased track in his dull seasonal bow, a race he may have needed.

ZABO's lone Tapeta excursion was a wide seventh in the G3 Valedictory traveling 1 1/2 miles in December. He wasn't beaten far when fourth off a winter break in an April 11 allowance/optional claimer on the Tampa turf and merits top billing in this non-three Tapeta route. Note that Hernandez was aboard for both of his wins here last year on the inner turf. DAZZLING CRUISER and STARSHIP SERENITY are two winter-raced runners from Gulfstream who have run well on turf and Tapeta.

TWENTYTWO SOLES blew away $15K maidens when taking a substantial drop in class Dec. 7, after which he got the winter off. He's protected by waiver in this $25K non-two tilt after posting some quick works for KA, who has excellent numbers with 61-180 day comebackers. BAHAMA VILLAGE crushed maiden special opposition two back on the dirt at Charles Town and then flopped in a subsequent allowance there. Maclean's Music has sired a solid 16% winners in synthetic sprints and this homebred worked a fast half here on the Tapeta the other day. RUNNER EYES, who brings poor Gulfstream route form to this sprint, could wake up in his first start since being reunited with Casse.

EQUITY doesn't have a win-early pedigree, but the gray/roan showed speed from the gate in his April 25 work and could take some catching with a clean break from the tricky one-hole. MISTER BLUE was gelded during the off-season and is adding blinkers after working fast for a capable layoff trainer. His 2yo form was decent and he could be much-improved this year. BRACHETTO mounted a wide bid for third over a track that favored speed and inside runners when last seen Dec. 14. His 67 Beyers are the highest in this field.

CROSBY ran hot and cold in his two juvenile outings, both in maiden special weight sprints. The son of Street Boss is stretching out with a blend of speed and stamina in his pedigree and could be taking an edge in this $25K maiden claimer. FOG D'ORO filled out the exacta in three of his last four starts dating back to late September. He was hard-ridden for second in his 6 1/2-furlong comeback and should appreciate the extension in distance. COMPLETE RESPONSE was beaten a pole in both of his Florida starts on different surfaces vs. maiden special stock. The blinkers are removed, a successful angle for leading trainer Casse, who's 3 for 6 when using Aebly at this young meet.

YACHT BOY got away slowly before closing on his left lead for second over a speed-favoring track in his five-furlong comeback. He gets another half-a-furlong to work with here and has some speed to close into. SPLIT STRIKE benefited from the aforementioned speed bias on April 19 when taking a starter handicap in front-running fashion with a career high 81 Beyer. He had a fruitful winter stint at Gulfstream and should be prominent at a chalky price. KEKOA breezed a bullet five-eighths two weeks ago and note that he placed in both of his fresh races, most recently in his '25 opener under Adams.

PIPER'S FACTOR got the winter off after tailing off in the fall and might find his calling this year as a sprinter. The superior work horse is sent out by the trainer who transformed router Simcoe into last year's Canadian champion male sprinter. Vives chose him over GO KART MOZART, who unseated her shortly after the post parade in last Sunday's Thorncliffe Stakes, from which he was scratched. The five-time winner in nine starts could be the controlling speed under Hernandez. SUMMER COMMANDER ran well in each of his last two fresh races under Campos and could be an effective stalker at what figures to be a square price.

CONN SMYTHE was a minor player going long on turf and Tapeta during the winter at Gulfstream. He has a fitness advantage on most of his rivals in this seven-furlong sprint for $10K maidens and is sent out by a successful route/sprint trainer. SPIRITUAL MAN looks next best off back-to-back thirds on the dirt at Mahoning. He ran spotty on the Tapeta here last year and nearly got the job done going seven-eighths last spring. SWITCHIN' TO GLIDE was along for third over a speed-friendly track in his comeback. Use him underneath in the gimmicks, along with BAYTOWN ANUBIS.

Seven first-time starters in the 2yo $40K maiden-claimer, at least one work video for four of them. Now that we have SOME access to morning workouts, it seems like a joke, guessing at first-timers based on times recored by humans tasked with clocking too many horse over too short a period.I mean, either or both of the two J Ennis-trained horses could be all right - who knows? Of the two Asmussen firsters, SWEET MARY looked meaningfully better than Speech and Drama. March 28 inside Cardio Cat, who ran all right in her debut, looked decent, April 12 outside unraced Captain Luke not so much, though wonder if Captain Luke has some talent. April 26 inside unraced Cubalibre and easily best of the pair. There's not a lof her. 4 1/2 furlongs ought to suit. THREE SOCK SADIE is one of the Ennis firsters. The pattern looks solid enough. Who knows? SPEECH AND DRAMA didn't do much to catch the eye, but that might not mean a whole lot. One KEE work from Sr Seventyone seemed ragged turning for home but actually finished all right. Either they are obscuring what rail-drawn I Know Nothing has to offer, or, at this point, she las not much to offer.

The first of many baffling races on this card. AUTHENTIC ANGEL was, well, dreadful in her most recent start. No two sloppy tracks are the same, I get it, but her lone win did come - over a sloppy track. I'm still just pitching that last race. Here's another one - does she really want two turns? Mixed signals, but, then, she also late-faded two back over six furlongs. Been in tougher than this in three starts since her comfortablee $20K MCL win facing 10 in a Cd one-turn mile. A very low-confidence selection. HALEAKALA finished behind MUSTANG LADY when they met at KEE, but taking H of ML because: A) ML already ran back, whereas H has been given time into this, and B) H was mid-pack, off pace, made a decent run before flattening out late, and I'd like to see her galloping along in front or close to it stretched to two turns for the first time. Horrses like ZEN YOGA, FIREBIRD SUITE, THEORETICALLY all far less exposed than 1-32 Mustang Lady - but I have no idea what to make of them.

HELLO ANGEL's arrow obviously pointing the right direction. She lost twice facing $15K maiden-claimers and needed $10K maidens to win for the first time. But ... that was a thrashing she gave those bottom-level foes while making her first start after a claim and returning from a 2+ month break. And fact she followed that six weeks later with an even better OP starter win suggests this filly's still on the way up. Sprinted in the last two races, but in most recent one she turned back a mid-stretch bid, and not only was going away at the finish, but galloped out like a horse ready to tackle two-turn racing. Seems like a pretty strong positive that COUNTRY CLUB, a voided $15K claim two back, now races under starter conditions for same connections. Ground out slow-paced 1 1/8-mile win last time at KEE, and in fact has gotten in nothing but slow-paced contests since her first two starts. Might better suit a faster-paced contest where she's a little farther back and can come with one more decisive run rather than grinding. Might seem odd, but some horses who have speed don't run as well in slow-paced races - which is the kind of heat THATSALRIGHTMAMA found herself in last out at KEE. Look at the way she clipped along three back at SA - more her style.

DOLCE VINO's best races came on synthetic and turf, and now she's back to dirt for the first time in five starts - but doubt it was surface switch alone that moved her forward this year. There's also the addition of Lasix and general maturity. New owner paid $20K at a digital auction in April, new trainer got a look at the filly breezing twice at CDT, and she's in for $30K - not a bad sign! No work video - but good breeze vibes? Into a smaller barn than she last occupied and new trainer A Green immediately takes blinkers off. Guessing she hits a new top here. FROM SCRATCH ran so hard 11/29 chasing the very fast LA-bred Synthetic that she clearly bounced in her next race. Another strong showing, this time on turf, and she regressed again 20 days later in her most recent out. Spotted for action in for the $30K tag, well drawn, and expect a competitive race, but in the end, six furlongs with a long homestretch taxes her stamina limits. MERRY MADISON beaten fave in her last two starts, and surely previous connections didn't mind losing her. Doubt she returns to her best 2025 form, but not surprised if she takes a minor step forward.

I'll tell ya - I stared, and I researched, stared some more, watched replays - can't make heads nor tails of this race. The problem is I don't actually "like" anyone - too many horses on the way down, in questionable form, etc. TAPIT SHOES seems well meant on the drop to $50K claiming. Was just over-entered much of 2025. Let's see - the two races among his last 10 where he didn't try stakes company produced wins. Post 12 no bargain but at least going 9f there's a decent run to the first turn, and we'll trust J Ortiz to work something out, though I wouldn't want the horse at much less than the listed odds. OFFLEE NAUGHTY might want more ground than this, but 9f might do. Trainer J Sharp tends to enter aggressively / realistically, and this horse, making first start since Sharp and TEC Racing claimed him on 3/7, goes up from $35K to $50K claiming. Troubled trip last time. Hasn't won in literally three years. WRITE OFF JERRY another Sharp horse, which he lost for $50K and reclaimed for $30K in January. Lacked spark in his three FG runs after the claim. Freshened now and five works since April 2 suggest he's coming into this better than he left his last form cycle. Not sure he really wants more than 1 1/16 miles.

Full field of bottom-level maiden claimers. Have at it, and good luck. Homebred CARSON (who might or might not be named after one of our cats) entered and withdrawn from a 2023 sale, but doubt if he wasn't an eye-catcher that there was much hope of a decent return at auction - dam was okay but has from five other foals to race yet to produce any kind of real runner. Turf, poor start in his lone race, which came in November - but if trouble and whatever accounted for modest showing, he'd return at a level higher than this one. Steady work for comeback, however, and would not have to be a lot of horse to contend on class drop from MSW. Suppose at a short price you're supposed to guess RICHEZTOO regresses sharply coming back on short rest from a radical peak performance - but if he's really going to go as high as his 5-1 morning line, it'd be worth a guess going the other direction. NEXT TIME beat a steady retreat last out at KEE facing nine $20K maidens in first start since owner-trainer paid $32K for him. If he were supposed to improve off that, why drop him right to the bottom?

PELICAN HILL supposedly work a bullet half-mile going outside Flash of Chaos - blowout $30K maiden-claiming winner 4/12 at KEE - on 3/30 at KEE, his first work since coming in from the training center. Guess that's possible since he started maybe a length, length-and-a-half back of his work mate. If he did finish on even terms it was after his rider went to some serious cropping to get his mount to move forward. Would not consider taking him off that drill, but it came without blinkers, and two subsequent work videos while wearing blinkers looked much, much better. I'd guess homebred gelding is well intended debuting for the $100K tag, and would also guess AUTHENTIC PATRIOT, a likely odds-on favorite, does not run to that last-start 90 Beyer. He might - but if the number represented who he is at the moment, why not run back in an MSW rather than for the high tag? Lost late ground in all three starts, not just the two-turn miles but also the sprint debut. ROCK MUSIC has a second-start step forward in him, and unlike with Authentic Patriot, the minor drop doesn't feel negative, but rail draw in a big field could lead to problems.

And ... another very, very challenging turf race. PRINCESS ATTITUDE making her 12th start, the KEE race in April, still made a mistake. Doubt she was going to get there and win, but after coming off rail in mid-stretch she was making a bid outside the two leaders going to the sixteenth pole - didn't want to turn slightly right, though, and swapped to her wrong lead, losing a little momentum, just she approached them, forcing rider to drop down toward rail. Suppose she might just have been tiring making first start after a winter break. It always seems to be something with this filly, which is why she's 1-12, but she meets an average bunch and perhaps accidentally will win? STATE OF JOY stuck on the AE list - as are a couple of the more obvious contenders in this race. Solid second-out win over 13 foes as a September 2yo in Ireland, and ran so bad making her third start and N American debut late last summer at Kentucky Downs that I'm just ignoring the race and treating her like a new import with a more Amerrican seasoning than most. Maybe a move to turf could bring out something better from SWING VOTE, but she's taken here as a rebound candidate and top pick for dirt.

HOT PROPERTY has worked four times - including, if we can believe it -- May drills just four days apart since owner-trainer D Jacobson took the horse for $40K April 10 at KEE. Doubles the claiming tag but not in over his head, and I quite like him drawn outside cutting back from six two-turn races to start his career to this one-turn mile. Right over the top and on to victory. This would be a good spot for MIRACLE MARK, who's blinkers-on, had he not drawn the rail. He's like the ultimate tweener - not enough speed for sprints, can't stay even a two-turn mile. A one-turn mile like this should, theoretically, give him his best chance. GETHSEMANE blinkers on and cut back from routes to a one-turn mile off the $50K claim by trainer Sharp. Dunno - the turn back on paper looks fine, but the horse himself hasn't struck me as the type to benefit from it.

And, finally, a horse on this card I do actually like. Fancied LADY SYBIL in her debut last month at KEE off what I deemed some very encouraging work. She finished fourth, but don't think I was wrong. Got off too a poor start, and then, to my eye, ran in spots, every so often traveling like a good thing, then not so much for a few strides. She did gather good momentum past the three-eights and came into the stretch like she meant business, but just as she was ready to descend on the lead group, she cocked her head - perhaps to look at the stands - and tried persisently to get in while racing on her "wrong" lead. Finally, B Hernandez got her to switch to the right lead - and the filly took off. Missed third by a zot. Encouraging post-race work video, and, female family aside, I think she'll get the nine furlongs. THAT WASN'T ME hasn't run since October, but her debut and lone start also quite promising. Encountered some traffic trouble while she had run, finished with great energy, even to the very, very last, when she had room to operate.
